The Twofold Nature of Human Reality

Human beings have two natures — material and spiritual — and genuine development must serve them both.

Material advancement alone has never been sufficient to produce flourishing communities. Alongside the practical work of building schools, livelihoods, and institutions runs a quieter labour: the cultivation of character, purpose, and the capacities of the heart.

We support programs that honour this twofold reality — pairing skills and knowledge with the moral and ethical foundations that give them direction, so that capability is matched by the wisdom to use it well.

Religion and science are the two wings upon which man’s intelligence can soar into the heights.‘Abdu’l-Bahá
